Judge upholds federal approval of Los Angeles Purple Line Extension project

01/23/2017

A U.S. Judge upheld approval of Los Angeles Purple Line subway phase 2, financed with a USDOT TIFIA loan on August 12, 2016. This should allow this phase of the project to move forward.

The Westside Purple Line Extension is the extension of the Purple Line from its current terminus at Wilshire/Western nine miles to Los Angeles' "second downtown" through the neighborhoods of Beverly Hills, Century City, and Westwood. The new line will ultimately add seven stations upon the completion of all three phases of the project.

The first phase consists of a 3.9-mile long segment along the Miracle Mile to Wilshire and La Cienega Boulevards that is under construction. The second phase is a 2.6-mile stretch from La Cienega to Century City.

IMG Rebel advised the U.S. TIFIA program on the financing of the $2.648 billion first phase of the project, which reached financial close on May, 2014. Read more about IMG Rebel’s role.
